Pakistan Community Association (PCA) gets involved in many activities which benefit the community. PCA managed the Gladstone Park Community Centre on Bourges Boulevard on voluntary basis for Peterborough City Council from 1997 to 2004.
Sure Start Gladstone: PCA was a major partner of a group which was formed to bid for funding from the Central Government which saw the setting up of first Sure Start Programme in Peterborough in October 2001. The programme funded building of two purpose built family centres The Veranda and The Allama Iqbal as well as a Creche at GLADCA. These centres provided services for children aged 0-5 and their families. Gladstone Park Pre School: PCA highlighted the need for a pre-school in 1996 and work started with the help of Multi-cultural Education Service and Gladstone Primary school to set up a Pre-school in Gladstone Park Community Centre which was managed by PCA. The pre-school named "Gladstone Park Pre-school" started in 1997. When the new Veranda Family Centre opened in 2002 the pre-school had a purpose built accomodation within the centre. In 2013 the Veranda Children Centre site was selected to build a modern Primary school Gladstone Park Pre-school was offered alternative accomodation in the St. Barnabas Learning Centre and the Pre-school moved to new location in October 2013. |
